About Me

Me !I’ve been involved in IT for most of my life, ever since the ZX80 with its massive 4KB of RAM which I used at school. My own first computer was a Commodore Vic-20 where all code had to be typed in by hand as we couldn’t afford a tape player to record the programs. Every time I turned off the machine the game I’d been programming would disappear and I’d have to type it all in again the next day.

After University I spent some time doing computer programming before becoming a Credit Manager (I was a Graduate Member of the Institute of Credit Management), then moving into exporting (I also graduated as a Member of the Institute of Export) finally beginning to train as a Management Accountant.

It was around this time that my company invited me to transfer across to IT and look after their internal systems. I’ve now been working for the same company (Redstone Managed Solutions) since 1997. I’m currently Professional Services Manager looking after the team that carries out installations of various products we sell and, possibly more importantly, providing solutions to customers with problems they face by utilising IT in the best way possible. I work with all sizes and types of organisations from 20 users through to over 100,000 including commercial, government, education and health to name but a few.

Solutions are principally around the Microsoft stack and my main personal focus tends to be on Active Directory and Exchange but I also work with MOSS, OCS, Hyper-V and various deployment products as well as a whole host of supporting providers such as McAfee, Symantec and others.

When I’m not working I have interests in my family, astronomy, science fiction, keep fit, cooking, history and all things Italian. If you want to get in touch then feel free to send me a message through the “Contact Me” page or drop me an e-mail here.
